De VOEST, Joop Sr - Suddenly on Monday, December 7th, 2009 Johannes 'Joop" DeVoest Sr. went to be with the Lord in his 85th year. Predeceased by his loving wife Elba Bruinink DeVoest (2003). Leaving behind his dear friend and companion Ann Vonk. Beloved father of Katie and Bernie Lawrence, Yvonne and John Lunshof, Dorothy and Albert Bosman, Joop Jr. DeVoest and Audrey deVoest. Adored Opa to Tonya and Brian (Mikayla, Dylan) Salomons, Johanna (Jacob, Madelaine) Lee-Travis, Derek (Bailey, Everest) Lee, Aaron Lawrence and Meg Pirie, Yolanda and Pieter (Justin, Jarrod, Emma) Gjaltema, Joshua and Raquel Lunshof, Jessica (Jordan, Brayden) Lunshof, Monica and Jonathan DeVries, Tamar Lunshof and Micheal Kuipers, Sean and Melanie Bosman, Robert and Pamela (Parker) Bosman, Deanna Bosman and Richard Eckhardt, Terry Bosman and Candice Taneda, Serena Merucci, Joop III, Karleen DeVoest, Boughdan Gibbons. He is predeceased by brothers Jan DeVoest, Ben DeVoest, sister Rie Wendrich and brother- in-law Herman Wendrich. He will be missed by sisters-in-law Lynne DeVoest and Sheila DeVoest. His memory forever cherished by his relatives and many friends and sadly missed by all the organizations and charities he was affiliated with throughout the years. Family and friends will be graciously received at the family residence (2603 Emerson Drive) Mount Brydges on Thursday, December 10th from 1-3PM & 4- 7PM. A celebration of Joop's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 12th at New Hope Community Church (4009 Colonel Talbot Rd). Reverend Greg Wyton officiating, with a private family interment Mount Brydges Cemetery. Please join the family for refreshments following the service at New Hope Community Church. Family members request that donations be made to a meaningful organization such as the Strathroy Community Christian School or a charity of one's choice in lieu of sending flowers.
